ABOUT HARBORD UNITED DEVILS RUGBY LEAGUE FOOTBALL CLUB

About Harbord United Devils

The Harbord United Devils are a proud community rugby league club based at Harbord Park in Freshwater on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. For generations, the club has been a place where local families come together through footy — supporting kids, building friendships, and strengthening the community.

As a local, non-profit club, everything we do is about creating opportunities for players of all ages and abilities to enjoy the game. Our focus is simple: give young players a great introduction to rugby league, provide pathways as they grow, and keep the club environment welcoming and inclusive for everyone.

Club History

Founded in 1950 the Harbord United Junior Rugby League Football Club has a long tradition of providing a friendly family based atmosphere for boys and girls to enjoy playing rugby league. Affectionately know as the Devils, the children who play for the club are anything but.

Many of our senior players have been with the club since the age of 5 or under. In fact, Steve Menzies, of the Manly Sea Eagles, played his entire junior rugby league career with Harbord United.

Mini league is on offer for children aged under 8, and at Harbord United the emphasis in these years is on involvement, letting each member of the team try different positions. With a smaller field size and smaller ball, this is an ideal introduction for children. Accredited coaches take great care in nurturing the children and positively reinforcing the idea of teamwork.

For children aged 9 to 12 Mod league is the style of game played. Again the emphasis is on involvement of all players. Our trained coaches assess each child and guide them to position which best suits the individual. Drills and positional play are an important part of training sessions at this age level.

Once children reach the age of 13 they play under International Rules.

Family involvement is encouraged at all levels within Harbord United JRLFC. Many parents become managers and coaches and others are involved on the Club committee.

Social events are high on the agenda for the season, incl. fundraisers, team get-togethers & season trips.
